Music!

I don't think I will ever burn a music CD again! Between satellite radio for the car and Pandora Radio... I think I'm covered! I like classical, soft and some country music (not much). I typed in a few artists (Barbara Streisand, Josh Groban and Keith Urban) and found some great stations via Pandora Radio! So awesome!

Lake George, NY... 2.0 style

I guess I could put up a picture of Lake George and type in a bunch of information or provide some links like the Lake George Land Conservancy or Historical Lakes but... looking from a 2.0 point of view is way cool! Can you hear the birds? There are blue herons on the lake but I wasn't able to capture them on video... maybe next year!

A satellite view if you want to get specific about where I was! Click on the birds eye view and get right to our house! Huletts Landing is pretty much in the middle of this beautiful 32 mile long lake. I think the satellite pic was taken in the fall.

RSS and the rest!

Really Simple Syndication is sweet! I found more information that I wanted! I searched for blogs and news on Lake George. I liked using Feedster . I found NCPR news. It has audio postcards! When I'm home sick for the lake , I can listen to the sounds of different animals and visualize areas along the lake.

Topic.net gave me more "news type information" when I searched for "heartburn" (why heartburn?...no clue) compared to my old "Web 1.0" style searching (Dogpile.com). There was less "product selling" as well with Topic.net.

I set up my RSS feeds within IE. I like the "all in one" package approach!

I "putzed" around at Flickr and was really impressed with the organization of photos and the ease of placing them on my Blog! I compared my "old way" of finding an image.... Dogpile search engine... and actually found more images there. I'm guessing you need to get good at refining your search @ Flickr to get bettter results.
I like knowing what's out there and how far I can "raise the bar" for my student's blogs!

Most students regardless of age still enjoy a " gold star" for excellent work on an assignment, project or test. This is easy in my "land classes"...I simply use the " star stickers". I thought I'd play around with a way to do this in my online classes. Think of the possibilities.... colors, animation....maybe a talking star..... hum...

Back in AZ...

Well... I never stepped off the boat to do the "23 things" while I was at the lake.... I did manage to take a few pictures and capture some moments on video. Hope I can play with the "23 things" before school starts!
